Engineering Project Manager – Brookfield, WI

Expectations for the Engineering Project Manager:

  • Serve as primary client contact for all assigned projects/clients, maintaining positive relationships with clients and upholding the Probst reputation
  • Utilize proven project management methods to manage/maintain project schedules and budgets through all phases of an assigned project, including construction
  • Coordinate schedules and budgets with subcontractors and equipment suppliers
  • Utilize Time Management Software to track and forecast budgets and complete invoicing
  • Distribute and follow-up on tasks assigned to Probst team members
  • Work closely with Project Coordinator to communicate schedule priorities and deliverables
  • Review process data and prepare design calculations
  • Gather and analyze client data for use in design development
  • Analyze existing treatment processes and wastewater characteristics to determine existing loadings to wastewater treatment plants (WWTP).
  • Estimate future flows and loadings to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations for review.
  • Utilize Probst configuration model and templates for design including Treatment Unit Sizing, Pipe Sizing, Motor List, etc.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply various wastewater treatment technologies, equipment, and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or develop designs.
  • Complete bid requests and evaluate quotations for equipment and contractors
  • Work with drafters to develop site layouts as well as process flow and process instrumentation diagrams
  • Develop and review design calculations, engineering reports, technical memos, and operation & maintenance manuals for industrial wastewater treatment systems
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and review purchase orders for equipment on assigned projects
  • Visit wastewater treatment facilities to execute project punchlists following construction

Requirements for the Engineering Project Manager:

  • Completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably with an emphasis in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other related Engineering field
  • Travel up to 20% of the time (primarily in WI)
  • Display strong, concise written communication, primarily for reports, directions, or proposals

Preferred experiences for the Engineering Project Manager:

  • Willing to work out of the Brookfield, WI office
  • Project Manager Certification (PMI)
  • Previous experience in Industrial Wastewater Management

We are looking for a Compliance Project Manager to help support our customers and organization as it relates to regulatory compliance of industrial wastewater treatment system. This position will work closely with clients, federal and state regulatory agencies, and multiple departments within Probst including Engineering and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations.

Expectations for the Compliance Project Manager:

  • Work as a key contributor in the Permitting & Compliance Team focusing on maintaining regulatory compliance of our clients
  • Develop in-depth compliance reports such as alternatives analyses and variance requests
  • Work with regulatory agencies to understand future limits and how they impact Probst clients
  • Critically review draft permits from regulatory agencies and provide comments in conjunction with and on behalf of assigned clients
  • Document plans for sludge management

Requirements for the Compliance Project Manager:

Preferred experiences for the Compliance Project Manager:

  • Able to analyze datasets using basic statistical analysis and graphs in Excel

The Probst Group is looking for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager to lead our team in Jim Falls, WI.  This position is only available due to an internal promotion, and will work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, and multiple departments within Probst including Engineering and other Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations.

Requirements for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager:

Leadership:

  • Supervise a team of staff engaged in process operations.
  • Schedule training and development activities to ensure that personnel obtain and maintain appropriate operator certifications from regulating agencies.
  • Coordinate employee training
  • Lead the implementation and execution of EHS initiatives at the facility.
  • Work with internal and external resources to complete project scopes on budget and on time
  • Participate and lead department meetings
  • Develop and distribute task lists on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to plant personnel
  • Review and provide comment on Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) process operation data
  • Manage the onsite laboratory & create and implement standard operating procedures
  • Develop process control adjustments, read gauges and meters, record data
  • Review and approve timesheets, vacation requests, and invoices
  • On-call required
  • Supervision coverage required after-hours

Plant Management:

  • Act as Operator in Charge for Assigned Facilities
  • Elevate process and mechanical concerns
  • Provide superb customer service
  • Provide wastewater troubleshooting, startup, and operations support and service in field and office
  • Maintain list of regular preventive maintenance and assign tasks as needed
  • Monitor processes to ensure WWTP effluent meets permit requirements
  • Determine proper chemical flow and dosing rates
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment within the scope of operations contracts
  • Diagnose operating problems and perform necessary corrective actions
  • Perform onsite laboratory analysis of wastewater samples for process control
  • Maintain chemical inventory and order/notify appropriate staff to reorder as needed

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain site Daily Log for process and effluent data
  • Submit all required samples to certified lab, as required
  • Assist with client compliance records (e.g. DMRs)
  • Complete weekly WWTP status reports and submit to client

Requirements for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager:

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Good problem-solving skills, effective communications skills, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to understand WWTP unit processes
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID and mechanical drawings
  • Understanding of WWTP instrumentation and controls
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance procedures
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures for maintenance, operations, start-up, and laboratory
  • Required WI DNR WW Operator Certifications, or ability to obtain, Advanced level for the following subclasses
    • A1 – Suspended Growth Processes (Activated sludge and variants)
    • A4 – Ponds, Lagoons and Natural Systems
    • A5 – Anaerobic Treatment of Liquid Waste (High strength liquid waste treatment system)
    • B – Solids separation (Clarifiers, membranes, filters, tertiary phosphorus removal, etc.)
    • C – Biological solids/sludge handling, processing, and reuse (aerobic and anaerobic digestion, thickening, dewatering, land application)
    • P – Total Phosphorus

Preferred Experiences for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager:

  • 3-5 years Wastewater experience preferred
  • Hands-on knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment, including blowers, pumps, motors, actuated valves, etc.

Wastewater Commissioning Field Technician

The Probst Group is expanding and looking for a Wastewater Commissioning Field Technician to lead our commissioning projects throughout the United States. This newly created position is available due to the expansion of our Operations Team, and will work closely with clients, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and multiple departments within The Probst Group.

Expectations for the Wastewater Commissioning Field Technician:

Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Construction and Operations teams to prepare a plan for the commissioning effort.
  • Review designs, confirm understanding prior to field work, & follow-up as needed.
  • Work in conjunction with a team of vendors, contractors, or subcontractors completing installation work.
  • Review and provide comment on Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) process operation data.
  • Confirm that documentation of commissioning has been completed and prepare handoff to startup team.

Commissioning Field Work:

  • Coordinate travel as needed for the commissioning projects assigned (some travel could be over multiple weeks).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to understand IO&M (instillation, operation, & maintenance) in the field.
  • Read piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) to understand equipment parameters and confirm installed equipment is working effectively.
  • Evaluate process and mitigate mechanical, electrical, and controls concerns.
  • Provide wastewater troubleshooting, operations support, and service from the field or office.
  • Troubleshoot, install, or repair equipment within the scope of the contract.
  • Diagnose operating problems and perform or coordinate necessary corrective actions.
  • Provide commissioning notes, documents, handoff packet to the installation team at project completion.

Onsite Probst Group Representative:

  • Act as the onsite Probst Group Representative by providing superb customer service and coordinating with appropriate internal and external team members.
  • Access and update computer communications as needed (file management, drop box, blue beam.
  • Maintain site Daily Log for progress.
  • Complete weekly WWTP status reports and submit internally and to clients.

Requirements for the Wastewater Commissioning Field Technician:

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • 2 years industrial maintenance and/or industrial construction experience
  • Up to 50% overnight travel possible, depending on project
  • Most work will be field based, but not all will be overnight travel (some projects are local)
  • Excellent mechanical skills & aptitude
  • Familiarity with low voltage wiring systems and schematics
  • Strong interpersonal skills including:
  • problem-solving
  • effective verbal and written communication
  • collaborative troubleshooting
  • working in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to understand WWTP unit processes

We are looking for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to help support our customers and organization as it relates to the operation of our industrial wastewater treatment system located in Richland Center, WI. This position will work closely with clients, federal and state regulatory agencies, and multiple departments within Probst including Engineering and other Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations.

  • Must be able to respond within a 45-minutes when on call
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to obtain WI WWTP Operator Certifications for the following subclasses
    • A1 – Suspended Growth Processes (Activated sludge and variants)

Health & Safety Manager – Brookfield, WI

The Probst Group is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead our employee health and safety efforts throughout the United States, based in our Milwaukee, WI area home office. This position will work closely with employees across all Departments of the organization as well as Probst’s contractors and subcontractors. The H&S Manager provides strategic direction and oversight of Probst’s Health & Safety Program which covers office safety, field visits to wastewater treatment plants, day-to-day onsite wastewater treatment plant operations, and construction oversight.

Expectations for the Health & Safety Manager:

Continued Program Development & Leadership:

  • Uses every opportunity to drive H&S awareness by demonstrating safe behavior, continuous self-development, and education in areas of environmental, health & safety compliance, industry trends and regulatory developments
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed Federal and State regulations, and strive for compliance with all applicable OSHA Standards & Regulations
  • Communicates risks associated with H&S to management
  • Develops health and safety policies, plans, and procedures to minimize safety risk to all colleagues across the company
  • Listens to staff and client safety concerns and works to continuously improve internal processes and procedures related to Health & Safety
  • Consults with Probst staff on the development of client proposals for wastewater treatment plant design and operation
  • Builds and maintains relationships with clients to encourage continued or expanded services related to Health & Safety

Staff Training:

  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
  • Ensures all new hire safety training is completed by local safety coordinators at assigned locations
  • Assesses training needs at assigned locations
  • Travels to assigned locations to audit safety training documents for compliance. Locations may include construction sites, wastewater treatment plans, or office locations

Program Administration:

  • Coordinates with Site Safety Leads to ensure completion of site-specific Safety Management Plans
  • Assists with all contractor safety training documentation
  • Assists with the procurement of safety equipment
  • Leads the Safety Committee and associated monthly meetings with plant managers
  • Oversees Worker’s Compensation and Return to Work programs to reduce severity of work comp claims
  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. Maintains records of site visits and audits.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and policies.

  • Track record of leading Health & Safety audit programs and improved performance at individual site locations
  • Experience working with management and data collection procedures
  • Experience developing and managing to key performance indicators
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives
  • Experience in construction industry, preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Up to 50% Travel, including overnight trips
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
